CoFe/Al2O3 discontinuous magnetic multilayers

Main Results

Multilayers with the structure: Si/Al2O3 30A/ (CoFe t /Al2O3 30Å)N, t=9 to 18Å, were prepared by IBD (Nordiko3000), for the Physics Department, U.Porto, and for the Univ. Duisburg, Germany, aiming at the study of transport in DIMM systems, and magnetic order and onset of ferromagnetism  in DIMMS.

 

The onset of ferromagnetic behavior in CoFe/Al2O3 multilayers is determined by the VSM loops (left). The in-plane TEM picture (at right) of a superparamagnetic sample shows that 13A-thick CoFe films growth discontinuous, well separated in the Al2O3.
