Sara Vieira completed her degree in Industrial Chemistry and Management at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. During the final year of the undergraduate degree, she participated in the European exchange program- Erasmus with the Manchester Met. University, UK. There she was invited to pursue her PhD in the Chemical Vapour Deposition group. Work in Manchester included the development of a new method to derivatise fullerenes. During her PhD, she became a visiting scientist at the Nanotech laboratory, Clemson University, US where she worked on boron doped carbon nanotubes and boron nitride nanotubes. She received her PhD from the Manchester Met. University in 2004 and soon after became a Research Associate at the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. In April 2008, she joined the INESC-MN research institute as a principal investigator. Her current research interests are in the controlled fabrication of carbon nanotubes and related nanostructures for electronic applications. Research Areas:
